The Migros elf goes on a quest to find his parents in the Swiss retailer's holiday sequel

Another excuse to get sentimental about supermarket till machines

Swiss grocery retailer Migros scored a hit last year with its unusual holiday ad, the tale of a little elf-like creature that makes the "bleep" noise in supermarket scanner pads.  This year, he returns, in another heartwarming animation that once again manages to get you feeling sentimental about supermarket tills.

The new film sees our creature, "Finn," sets off in search of his bleep-noise parents, clutching a faded family photograph. He has something of an epic journey to get there, hitching a ride on the tail-light of a car and having to hide from a threatening local cat. When he finally discovers the Migros store where he grew up, he goes into a store room and is devastated to find his parents' home, under an old cash register, abandoned. But all is not lost when he hears a familiar beep; they're living in an upgraded scanner out on the shop floor.  The end tagline reads “Be There For Each Other.”

The film is by creative agency Wirz Werbung, Passion Animation and Swiss production company Stories; directors Kyra Buschor and Constantin Paeplow worked on the animation, while Dorian Lebhertz and Daniel Titz direct the live action elements.
