This animation shop says it's here to save productions under quarantine

As Hollywood and production companies around the world shut down to prevent the spread of Covid-19, it’s fair to wonder how ads are going to get made. Portuguese prodco Show Off Films has a proposal—turn to animation.

A spot (animated, of course) for Mola, the company’s animation department, presents a seemingly endless list of positions now under quarantine and unavailable to work on ads and films: the creatives, the creative director, the director of photography. But it’s not just people on the agency side. The clients are under quarantine, as are the actors and the celebrity spokesperson. Hair dressers, caterers and makeup artists, too.

The solution, then, is animated film and effects that can be handled by remote teams that don’t require all of the accouterments of a big, physical production. “For now, it’s important that everyone stays safe and healthy in their homes,” said Mola CEO Alexandre Montenegro in a statement. “We will be here to help take care of the rest.”

The spot, from agency Coming Soon, is running on social now (and for the foreseeable future).
