Mountain Dew took New Yorkers on a virtual-reality tour of Las Vegas this week, via an Oculus Rift headset. As part of its action-sports exhibition Dew Tour, the brand invited attendees to become part of the Dew Skate Team, "riding" (virtually) with pro skaters Paul Rodriguez and Sean Malto through malls, skate parks and streets in Las Vegas. Fans received a split-screen video of their Oculus experience that they could share across social channels. Mountain Dew's digital agency, Firstborn, created the experience, working with skate filmmaker Ty Evans. The technology used included a 3D-printed rig with 12 different cameras, filming every angle of the action.
