That Jeeves fellow had the right idea, but the newly launched Ms. Dewey is the first search engine to actually take the notion of "asking" an online character for search info to its logical extreme. Curious websurfers feel as though they're actually conversing with the aptly named Ms. Dewey, a beautiful and sassy electronic librarian who can answer (or fetch informational links for) any question typed into the search field (sort of like Subservient Chicken, with a Google twist). Agency McCann Worldgroup/San Francisco and interactive agency EVB created the search engine and tapped directing duo Sausage of Kaboom to cast the character of Ms. Dewey and direct the actress through a four-day green screen shoot that yielded over 500 unique lines, responses and amusing reactions.
