George Clooney is starring in his first North American Nespresso ad, nearly a decade after first appearing in the campaign in the U.K. and Europe (his latest European campaign broke last month).
A new spot by McCann New York, which will appear in the U.S. and Canada, also features Danny DeVito, who sees Clooney drinking a cup of Nespresso in a movie studio and tells him: "I want in." Clooney then inducts DeVito in the art of being suave, a training session that includes appreciating fine wine, eating sushi, dancing the tango with a beautiful woman, and of course drinking Nespresso. Of course a lot of the humor comes from the actors' mismatched physiques, but the pair -- good friends in real life -- also have a great rapport and the ad works.
In a statement, Clooney said: "I've been working with Nespresso internationally for nine years and I really love and respect the brand, what they do, and how they do it. Nespresso and I have a shared commitment to sustainability, most recently helping to rebuild coffee farms in South Sudan. They are an incredibly responsible company and I am excited to expand my partnership with them into the U.S."
