A New Species from Jeep

Editor's Pick

The new four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, seen from above with all its doors open, toting sports gear, bears an uncanny resemblance to a bug. This concept, seen earlier this year in a collateral piece at the New York Auto Show (click here for that), has now been adapted as print ads and, rather spectacularly, on a giant scale in several outdoor iterations in New York and Chicago. "The goal was to highlight the four doors on the new Wrangler Unlimited, yet still convey adventure and fun," says BBDO/Detroit writer Ty Hutchinson. "By stacking equipment such as kayaks, surfboards, snowboards and backpacking gear on the roof, we were able to create a new species to introduce a new vehicle." Let's not wrangle over whether it's a beetle or an ant.
