Nissan is known for doing some spectacular things to show off its vehicles -- for example, in Japan, it sent one of its SUVs on a crazy trip to deliver pizza in the most extreme conditions. Now, in Europe, the brand is working with TBWA/Helsinki to transform one of its vehicles into something quite unexpected: a Playstation videogame controlller.
"Project Controller" is an initiative that will allow gamers to control players in Sony Playstation's version of the Konami Pro Evolution 2016 soccer game by driving a Qashai crossover. Acne Productions is leading the R&D and production on the car, currently being built in Sweden. The project leverages the talents of auto engineers, gamers and UX designers, and according to the brand, aims to fulfill Nissan's promise of "innovation that excites" by engineering "unexpected moments of fan excitement to enhance their experience of Europe's most prestigious football competition."
What's the connection? Nissan is the global auto sponsor for the UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Champions League.
The effort will debut during the UEFA Champions League game between Malmo FF and Paris Saint-Germain on Nov. 25, where players will be able to use it to "drive" their favorite PES 2015 players.
Fans can follow the project as it develops on the dedicated site.
