If you're fed up with sentimental Christmas ads from the U.K., this one from Aldi in Australia makes a refreshing change.

It consists of vignettes of people looking variously shocked, horrified, stressed out and totally bored that it's Christmas, as they come to terms with some of the less palatable aspects of the season. From dull presents to crappy office parties, awful TV shows, stepping on baubles and inflatable decorations that won't behave themselves, it's all there. And although the spot ends with everyone looking serene and calm finally as the feast (from Aldi) is served, you'll appreciate it all the same for telling some home truths about the season rather than serving up schmaltz or razzle-dazzle on a plate.
