Design firm Control Group creates MTA's "On the Go" wayfinding kiosks

Design firm Control Group has been working to make life a whole lot easier for New Yorkers. The company recently came up with a brilliant idea to transform obsolete payphone booths into informational digital hubs, and now, it's making New York's subway maps a whole lot more useful with interactive touchscreen technology. The NYC MTA tapped the firm to create up to 90 "On the Go Interactive Wayfinding Kiosks" to assist more than four million riders a day. The digital touchpoints will give commuters real-time travel information, visual station directions with transfers and line alerts, service updates and countdowns to train arrival. And, not surprisingly, the interactive boards will also be an opportunity for the MTA to develop new ad revenue models.
