One Bit Increment : One Bit Increment Experience

Designer/programmers Leon Hong and Camille Orillaneda created this craft-meets-digital world to promote their company One Bit Increment. With all the charm of a children's picture book, the site stars a papercraft highland coo, who you can guide through the wilderness using your keyboard arrow keys.

Technically, the site has some pretty clever tricks as well. It's keyed into L.A. weather and time and queries Yahoo to set its environmental conditions—rain in L.A. means rain in the coo's world. Also, when the sun sets in Los Angeles the skies of the site darken and become filled with stars.

Hong and Orillaneda endured many papercuts and spent several weekends creating the coo mascot and accompanying elements, which were then put together digitally. Read more about the process on their blog.
