Nike : Paint With Your Feet
The art of running
Editor's Pick
It's not enough just to walk, run or dance in shoes these days. First Adidas created shoes that make music as you dance. Now Nike has created a way of making artworks based on runners' tracks.
As part of the launch of its Nike Free Run+2 QS City Pack series, it commissioned design collective YesYesNo to develop software that would create dynamic paintings based on runners' feet. During a two day workshop at Nike headquarters, participants recorded their runs using Nike+ GPS. The custom software was then used to create the artworks, basing the brushstrokes on the speed, consistency and unique style of each runner.
Participants got a high res print of their art to take home, plus a pair of custom-made 'City Pack' shoes featuring their run path.
