A new campaign gives parents the chance not only to show their support for their LGBTQ kids, but also to encourage other parents to "come out" to their own communities and be openly proud of their offspring.

As one dad in the film says, "The key for supporting a child is actually coming out yourself. That's the huge piece. Coming out on Facebook, saying 'I'm proud of my daughter, she's a lesbian and I love her and I'll support her forever.' That's what your child really wants to hear."

Some parents in the film acknowledge their failings. One admits, "I was not the ideal father when Brad and I first had that conversation," while another says, "It took me a little while and I think partly because I was afraid for him."

Created by Colle McVoy with PFLAG (Parents, Friends and Family of Lesbians And Gays) and Post-it Notes maker 3M (which has supported Pride for 20 years), the #parentscomingout campaign invites parents to post public messages of support to their kids on social media.

Some of these messages were shared on real-life message boards during Pride 2017 events, and new ones are constantly added to the campaign's website,, as they are posted on social media.
