The Pirelli Calendar -- known for using legendary photographers over the years, including Annie Leibovitz, Peter Lindbergh and Patrick Demarchelier -- has brought Ms. Leibovitz back for a return engagement.

In 1999, for the 2000 calendar, she famously shot choreographer Mark Morris's dancers. For 2016, the 43rd edition of the calendar, she's shot 13 iconic women: actress Yao Chen, the first Chinese UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador; Russian top model Natalia Vodianova, founder of the charity Naked Heart Russia; producer Kathleen Kennedy, the chairperson of Lucasfilm; art collector Agnes Gund (with her granddaughter Sadie Rain Hope-Gund); tennis player Serena Williams; writer Fran Lebowitz; investor Mellody Hobson; film director Ava DuVernay ("Selma"); blogger Tavi Gevinson; artist Shirin Neshat; artist and musician Yoko Ono; singer Patti Smith; and actress and stand-up comedian Amy Schumer.

A selection of the images are reproduced here with permission.

The Amy Schumer photograph is getting the most attention; in it, she's unclothed (though strategically posed to avoid full nudity). It's an unselfconscious portrait of a real woman with a real body.
