Fixing Dinner Gets All Operatic in U.K. Launch Spot for Unilever's Pot Pasta
It's 'Italian, But Faster,' Says Spot by Lucky Generals

Instant pasta in a plastic pot and opera -- not two things you'd immediately put together, but new Unilever brand Pot Pasta exploits that Italian connection for all it's worth in its U.K. launch campaign.
The ad, by Lucky Generals, is entirely sung in opera, by a keen young couple preparing a quick dinner. As they sing, they explain that they want to be singers, but don't have much free time -- so it helps to make Pot Pasta, which is "tasty Italian but faster." They are then joined by Paul Potts, who is known in the U.K. for winning the first series of "Britain's Got Talent" with his opera singing. The tagline is "You can make ITalian." The spot was directed by Java Jacobs at Blink.
Pot Pasta is a spin-off of Pot Noodle, an instant noodle brand that's been popular in the U.K. for many years (backed by some iconic advertising from the likes of Mother.). Its flavors are inspired by what are apparently the U.K.'s top three favourite Italian dishes --Creamy Carbonara, Beefy Bolognese and Cheesy Broccoli.
