How Would New Yorkers Propose Without Central Park?

Central Park Conservancy Campaign Illustrates the Importance of Donors and Volunteers

Editor's Pick

Central Park Conservancy is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a campaign showing what would happen without the organization that provides 75% of Central Park's funding. And it's not pretty.

The spots, created pro bono by McGarryBowen, provide a funny but frightening take on the importance of donors and volunteers. "Proposal," seen here, shows what happens when a man proposes in a dirty city bathroom instead of, say, next to a beautiful fountain in Central Park, while "Birdwatch" imagines a group of bird-lovers spotting a dirty tennis ball in a dilapidated lot. Both new ads, which will launch at the Central Park Conservancy Film festival today (August 25), use the tagline "Powered By You," and are accompanied by a series of outdoor banners.

The ads are part of an effort to engage a younger audience and bring attention to the runners, parents and volunteers who help the park run.
