The brutal realities of child homelessness are on full display in a cinematic short film from Fred & Farid Paris for the Fondation abbé Pierre, a nonprofit fighting homelessness in France.

“Expulsion” tells the story of a young boy, Adem, whose world is upended by a sudden eviction from his apartment with his mom. Told from Adem’s point of view, the seven-minute film captures the consequences of homelessness on his life—instability, exhaustion, struggling in school, feelings of humiliation around his peers, emotional turmoil and fear.

The raw film illustrates how, despite his mom’s efforts to maintain a semblance of normalcy, housing challenges expose Adem to additional unexpected hurdles—tardiness for school, dirty clothes, a lack of appropriate meals and more.

The campaign comes as over 2,000 children currently live on the streets in France, with more than 400,000 homeless children across Europe. Fred & Farid has worked with the foundation for the past four years to create campaigns tackling this issue.

The campaign will run across digital platforms, TV and social channels.
