OBI, Germany's largest home improvement retailer, has come up with a creative way to advertise its services in a competitive market where DIY stores are having a tough time and advertising in the sector has become generally blatant and low-budget. Agency Jung von Matt, Elbe picked run-down buildings close to OBI stores and renovated billboard-sized sections of them, adding an OBI logo and turning the renovated rectangles into outdoor advertising. Peeling paint and crumbling facades were spruced up attractively, showing exactly how renovating a home can make a difference.
