This Thanksgiving weekend, Gatorade and TBWA/Chiat/Day reunite two rival high school football teams to settle a 15-year old score.
Replay is a branded content initiative from the agency that culminates with this weekend's broadcast of a game between the Easton High Red Rovers and the Phillipsburg High State Liners. The two rival teams played on Thanksgiving Day 1993, with the game ending in a tie.
On behalf of Gatorade, TBWA/Chiat/Day L.A. offered the original 1993 team members (now in their 30s) the chance to square off again. "The original coaches returned. The '93 cheerleaders returned. Hell, even the band members came back," says TBWA associate creative director Brent Anderson. "We documented the entire experience for 4 months."
The one-hour documentary, Replay, will premier this Sunday on Fox Sports Network. "It's the first Replay in a series that Chiat, Gatorade and Fox will create and air next year," says Anderson.
