Icon meets icon in this David Lynch film for Christian Louboutin. The famous Frenchman, whose red-soled shoes have taken the fashion and celebrity worlds by storm, is now branching into nail polish.

The extension brings Mr. Louboutin full cilcle, in a way, because the origin of the "red bottoms" is actually lacquer-related. In 1993, Mr. Louboutin was inspired to adorn the prototype of one of his early shoes with red when an assistant was painting her own nails bright rouge nearby. He swiped the bottle from her and drenched the sole of the black heels with color. The rest, as they say, was somewhat recent history.

The first color to be launched is a blood red and the bottle design makes a playful riff off Mr. Louboutin's signature heels, featuring spiky caps that resemble stilettos. The designer teamed with "Mulholland Drive" director David Lynch for this promotional video, which makes the polish the star of an ethereal story, played out with futuristic animation.
