Ryan Reynolds debuted an erectile dysfunction ad on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last night—a marketing stunt for telehealth brand Hims that doubled as a plug for his own exploits—with the added bonus of pranking a friend.

The actor and entrepreneur appeared on the late-night show hosted by actor Rob McElhenney ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," "Mythic Quest"), who was subbing for Jimmy Kimmel.

During the interview, the pair get to talking about how they became friends and decided to go into business together. Back in 2020, the two bought Welsh national soccer club Wrexham AFC, which will be the subject of an upcoming documentary series on FX

They also discuss Reynolds’ misadventures in advertising with his agency Maximum Effort. The “Deadpool” actor recounts how his mom has appeared in a couple of his ads and announced a new spot featuring another celeb—McElheney’s own wife, actor Kaitlin Olson. It was a perfect segue to debut the Hims ad, a hilarious pharma send-up about a couple with E.D. issues. Olson plays the wife, while the husband bears a striking resemblance to the man hosting the show.

Olson also appears in an additional spot that will be running over the next month. Hims is part of the Hims & Hers Inc. telehealth platform that aims to transform how medications for conditions like erectile dysfunction and sexual wellness treatments are delivered. The company earned D-to-C Brand of the Year at Ad Age’s 2021 Creativity Awards
