In the TV ad it aired at the Oscars, GE imagined what life would be like if famous female scientists, like engineer Millie Dresselhaus, were treated like celebrities. One of the scenarios pictured a teen girl using an emoji of her face when celebrating a good result in a science assignment. Now, as a follow-up, the company has actually created such emojis.

To celebrate the first day of Women's History Month, the "SciMoji" sticker pack is now available in the app store. It was created by messaging specialist Snaps.

As well as Dresselhaus, the female scientists featured include Katharine Burr Blodgett, the first woman to receive a PhD from the University of Cambridge; nuclear physicist Chien-Shiung Wu; aeronautical engineer and motor racer Beatrice Shilling; Lise Meitner, who led the team that discovered the nuclear fission of uranium; Algebra inventor Amalie Emmy Noether; first-ever female electrical engineer and GE employee Edith Clarke and Alice Ball, the first woman and first African American to graduate from Hawaii University, who developed the first effective oil extract to treat leprosy.
