Why come up with a campaign when you can create a whole new product? Huge Toronto’s latest idea for Switzerland-based sports gear brand Scott Sports is an addition to the company’s helmet line, the Scott Split Plus.

The new head gear, a step up from its predecessor the Scott Split, features a more compact shape, lower sides that hug the ears, front vents that keep athletes’ heads cool all around, and what’s billed as an industry first—a spring-loaded sunglass holder. All work together to improve a rider’s aerodynamics.

Cyclist Simon Yates wore the new helmet during his individual time trial today at the Tour de France, while Giro D’Italia women winner Annemiek Van Vleuten has a customized version of her own. 

The agency teamed with the Scott engineering department to conceive a helmet not developed solely in the pristeen environs of a lab. It takes into consideration factors that affect cyclists’ speed in real life—like body movements, fatigue, head position and environmental conditions.

The helmet will hit the general market in September. Huge is also creating an IOT device for the helmet that will track riders’ positioning to help them adjust their bodies for optimum speed and performance. 

This isn’t the first product conceived out of Huge. For Scott Sports, it also helped to develop motorsports eyewear and conceived a ladies lifestyle driving shoe for Piloti, among others.
