See Dan Levy and Kate McKinnon compete to describe Tostitos Habanero's spiciness
Campaign also includes Snapchat element inviting people to 'one-up' their friends
Editor's Pick
"Schitt's Creek" star Dan Levy is an advertising favorite at the moment, having starred in the M&Ms Super Bowl spot and a campaign for Verizon that played on his eyebrows (as well as a hilarious Zillow parody ad for Saturday Night Live).
He's back again this week in a new campaign for Tostitos chips and dips, in which he plays opposite another comic talent, "Saturday Night Live" actor Kate McKinnon. The ad, by Goodby Silverstein & Partners, sees the pair try to one-up each other in describing and acting out the spiciness of Tostitos Habaneros—a friendly rivalry that shows off their respective comedic skills. Martin Granger at Moxie Pictures directed.
There's also an interactive element; beginning April 6, people will be invited through an interactive Snapchat lens to "one-up" their friends, just like Levy and McKinnon. The pair are set to appear together in a second ad for the brand, debuting April 3, in which they'll debate who needs to tell a new guy that he has a salsa stain on his shirt.
“Tostitos’ ambition is to fuel togetherness and help bring people closer to those they love by telling the stories of connections friends share and things they love to do together,” said Anya Schmidt, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay North America, in a statement. “This new campaign with Kate McKinnon and Dan Levy showcases some of the ways that these moments are made, all while enjoying Tostitos chips and dip.”
