Each year at Ad Age’s Small Agency Awards, we ask the outgoing Agency of the Year winner to hand off the title to the new honoree. As part of the process, it’s become tradition for the parting celebrant to offer some words of advice—this year, it came with the help of none other than NBA star Muggsy Bogues.

Basketball fans will recognize Bogues as the shortest-ever athlete to play for the NBA, standing at 5’3.” He was a point guard who spent most of his career with the Charlotte Hornets, and all throughout proved how heart and hustle could win over height.

2021 Small Agency of the Year Translation works with the NBA, so fittingly, tapped Bogues, via Cameo, to congratulate 2022 winner Mojo Supermarket.

Backed by triumphant orchestral music, Bogues says, “As the smallest person to ever play in the NBA, I’ve worn many accolades over the years, but you know what? I’ve never won an award for being small. Good for you all! There’s nothing like reaching a pinnacle of success as part of a group. Way to go guys!”

The message follows other fun hand-off films, such as one from Alto likening small shops to a dung beetle, another from BSSP spoofing Nike’s famous “Jogger” ad and yet another from Terri & Sandy celebrating the “Smanley Cup.”
