David Soul Plays A Crooning Coach Driver In UK Ad for National Express
'Starsky and Hutch' Star Serenades Bus Passengers with 'Silver Lady'
Editor's Pick
This spot for UK coach company National Express is getting a lot of love on UK social media -- perhaps because it features "Starsky and Hutch" star David Soul as a coach driver who sings along to his 70s hit "Silver Lady" as he drives, bringing smiles to the faces of his passengers. From his salute to a passing eagle to his serenading a goldfish in a bowl, his performance is funny and utterly charming -- and, in an era when taking a coach has arguably become a tedious, low budget way to make a long journey, perhaps recaptures some of the romance of the 70s when the open road and the Greyhound was the way to travel. (It also reminds us of the iconic bus singalong scene in Cameron Crowe's "Almost Famous.") The spot is by agency Isobel.
