Brand Is Using Samsung Gear to Simulate Real Jumping in Lillehammer
Editor's Pick
Visitors to this week's Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway, will have the chance to experience a ski-jump in virtual reality -- with an added element of feeling the wind in their face.
Samsung's "Ski Jump VR" campaign, devised by Cheil Worldwide, features a 360-degree VR video taken from the point of view of an expert skier. Participants wear a Samsung Gear VR headset and sit in a motion chair synched to move in time with the action in the VR video content. Sensory wind machines are incorporated into the experience to make audience actually feel wind on their faces when they are virtually ski-jumping -- making it a "4D" experience according to Samsung.
The experience is available to the public until Feb. 21 at the Samsung Galaxy Studio (Stortorget) and VR Bus (Stampesletta).
