Adidas : Sky Comic
A massive show of support for Japan's World Cup team.
Editor's Pick
TBWA/Hakuhodo and adidas Japan are bringing the country together on a massive mural/comic book project, adidas Sky Comic, in preparation for the 2010 FIFA Word Cup in South Africa.
Thirteen 300 square meter murals will be created in 13 different Japanese cities over five weeks. The murals will be painted by football fans around the country. Each one will be photographed from the sky remotely via an air balloon, after which they'll each be slotted in as a panel of a full story in the digital adidas Sky Comic. On May 25, the murals themselves will be brought together as a giant comic strip at Tokyo's Haneda Airport, in a massive send off for Japan's National Team as it departs for South Africa.
The first panel, of Japanese soccer player Takayuki Morimoto, was created in April at the footballer's hometown elementary school in Kanagawa. Subsequent panels were created in their respective players' home cities. On May 22, the final mural will be created in an open event to which supporters across the country are invited.
