Powerball Comes to California, Asking You to 'Believe'
Campaign asks you to have some faith in your chances
Editor's Pick
The Scala and Kolacny Brothers' "California Dreamin'" cover is the setting for this surprisingly lovely spot for Powerball and the California Lottery out of David & Goliath. Snow -- in the form of balls -- falls from the sky over the citizens of California, while a simple placecard at the end reads: "Believe in Something Bigger."
To launch Powerball, the California Lottery wanted to go beyond showing the great things in life you can do with a lot of money, and focus instead of the possibility of winning the lottery -- a possibility that is, according to Powerball's own FAQ page, about 1 in 175,223,510.
But still, you can't win without trying, and you won't try unless you believe in something bigger than yourself. A digital element invites Californians to post their dreams, while an out-of-home feature will see giant red balls popping up all over the state.
