International Architecture Exhibition : Some Pigeons Are More Equal Than Others

Everyone who visits Venice knows the pigeons. They are all over the city, congregating frequently at the Piazza San Marco -- a favorite of tourists. But artists Julian Charriere and Julius von Bismarck think they could be, well, prettier. For their piece in this year's International Architecture Exhibition (Venice Biennale), they created an "apparatus" that can be placed on the roofs of buildings. A "bird trap" of sorts, it has a conveyor-belt that pigeons can jump on and get inside, where they'll get airbrushed in different colors.

The artists already tried it out on some birds in Copenhagen, and the project is now in Phase 2.
