It looks like Southern Comfort and Wieden + Kennedy New York are quietly jumping on the Shark Week bandwagon with the introduction of its latest non-speaking spokesperson, a lady barfly who sports what could possibly be the most dangerous manicure ever -- a spiky set of shark-adorned claws.
In this new ad directed by Steve Rogers via Biscuit Filmworks, Ms. Comfort uses her great white fingernails to mix her drinks and stab into a maraschino cherry while chillling at a local bar, taking in the smooth sounds of "Little Red Riding Hood" by Bushwalla and Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside. She's a refreshing addition to the brand's lineup of cool cats, which has included the hairy, portly beachcomber and the handlebar-mustached salon-goer.
The campaign will continue online, when Southern Comfort on Wednesday launches the Sharktender on Southerncomfort.com, which, according the W+K will be a "deep sea bartending experience" for which the brand and agency have adopted their very own shark. Visitors will be able to track his movements and receive location-based drink recs. The campaign can be followed on social media at #sharktender.
