Toronto agency Zulu Alpha Kilo absolutely destroys the logic behind agencies taking on spec work by doing a little experiment in this rather awesome short video.
A seemingly nice man goes shopping for goods and services -- everything from breakfast to personal training -- and innocently asks for spec work. The incredulous reactions from real-world, non-adland folks are priceless, especially when our protagonist tries to get spec food at a greasy spoon. "You guys could make me a spec breakfast, right? And then if I enjoy it, I'll make you guys my ROR: my Restaurant of Record," he says. The guy behind the counter exhibits the perfect range of amusement, annoyance and anger.
