Today, February 27, 2015, the world lost one of its most beloved character actors, Leonard Nimoy, best known for playing Spock in the original Star Trek series and in subsequent feature films.

The role of the hyper-logical, pointy-eared Vulcan carried him far and became fodder for advertising too, as you can see, for example, in this funny 2013 film for Audi, created out of PMK*BNC, in which he faces off against "New Spock" Zachary Quinto. The film is rife with Trekkie references and other tidbits for true Nimoy fans. Check out more of Mr. Nimoy's funny ad gigs here and on Adage.com.

Original Post:

Audi, PMKBNC and directorial team Paulilu (of Dollar Shave Club fame) get some Spock on Spock action going for the auto brand's newest film, which launched on YouTube today. The film stars Leonard Nimoy (who played Mr. Spock in 1966) and Zachary Quinto, who took on the role in the 2009 movie update, and features Audi and Mercedes cars. Interestingly, as AdAge notes, Mazda, not Audi, is the car brand with an official tie in to the upcoming "Star Trek: Into Darkness" film, which opens this month. However, this spot has no relationship with Paramount and doesn't mention the film at all. What it does mention, however, are Trekkie jokes a-plenty.
