Japanese fashion designer Taro Horiuchi's S/S collection, which released this week, was launched with this striking, gorgeous film by director and digital artist Genki Ito. What starts off as your regular, run-of-the-mill fashion film turns into something totally different -- and super-surreal -- as the models' bodies twist and turn to create an ethereal, not-quite-of-this-earth effect.

"I wanted to challenge myself to explore new way of showing clothes in the movement which does not have models walk on a runway," explains Ito of the distinctive visuals. "What I tried was to add changes to the shape of each piece through time. It begins with the idea of 'mutation.' Butterflies in the forest lay eggs, which later develop into caccons and mutate into butterfly. As it often seen in nature, mutation is beautiful. I tried to express the beauty of mutation in this film by not ruining the shape of clothes, but multiplying the effect."
