JJ Abrams' production company Bad Robot recently released this eerie black and white trailer starring a scraggly stranger who washes up on a river bed. The camera turns away then comes into focus on his face to reveal a frightening visage--featuring a stitched-up mouth. Poignant piano music accompanies the mysterious visuals and a voiceover teases the stranger's cryptic roots: "He arrived knowing nothing of himself. Who is he? Soon, he will know, because what begins at the water shall end there, and what ends there, shall once more begin. This is what happens. Men become lost, men vanish, men are erased and reborn."
The film rose high on Reddit within hours of release and has fans and media outlets speculating as to what it is promoting--from Abrams' upcoming book release in October, to his forthcoming TV show "Believe," with "Children of Men" director Alfonso Cuaron.
