Audi's Super Bowl commercial this year centers on a retired astronaut, who's clearly sunk into depression as he remembers his youth and sits alone at home, surrounded by memorabilia. However, when his son turns up jangling the keys to a new Audi R8, his eyes start to light up. They go for a drive and we experience what it's like for him to rediscover his spark -- and David Bowie's "Starman" starts to play. (This is an emotive choice, with Bowie's death just a few weeks ago, and we're wondering if it was a coincidence.)

The ad is by Venables Bell & Partners, and directed by MJZ's Craig Gillespie. It will run during the first quarter of the game.
