French supermarket chain U created an in-store LED screen that showed shoppers more about what was in their shopping cart, in some fairly eye-catching ways.
Agencies TBWA/Paris and DAN Paris placed a giant 3.6m mirror made up of LED screens in a store in Thourotte. As customers walked past it, information from the food in their shopping cart triggered augmented reality animations, together with their own reflection. So for instance, people buying dairy products might see a giant cow in their cart or people buying ham, a pig, alongside a caption stating that the animals were all sourced from French farms.
While we're not sure vegetarians (or anyone squeamish about meat) would necessarily appreciate this, U says it helps the brand achieve its aim of being totally transparent about the origins of its food.
