In an effort to take aim at the insidious threat posed by the illegal international arms trade, Amnesty International recruited Mother to create a parody of a home shopping network TV segment in which the merchandise of the moment is a cache of AK-47s. Showcased in movie theaters and on a micro site created by London-based interactive agency Poke, "Teleshop: Guns for Sale" features a pair of chipper hosts enthusiastically selling viewers on the merits of the deadly assault rifles, which come with a year's worth of free ammunition and can be purchased with cash, off-shore accounts or diamonds. There's even a demonstration of the weapon's deadly potential in the form of a gun-toting child shooting up a mannequin. The video is also available as a podcast or a PSP download for those who prefer their violence on the go.
