Mars-owned cat treat brand Temptations Tumblers has done something stunningly original with a petfood ad -- it's created a spot that looks like it's for Nike or Adidas. As the spot opens, its muscular sportswear-clad stars, black background and soundtrack all look familiar; but turns out it's cat treats, not basketballs, these people are throwing. They're soon joined by their athletic felines (naturally including one who looks like Grumpy Cat -- the cat's real name is Fizgig). The ad ends with the tagline (and Twitter hashtag) #time to play ball. The agency, adam&eve/DDB, scores highly both on doing something different for the category and showing up the cliches of sports advertising. And, of course, for including LOLcats.
