While Election Day is a serious affair, sometimes it's also just pure, soap opera-like entertainment, full of intricate twists and turns. The Guardian uses a beautifully drawn, parallax-scrolling microsite that dramatizes the lead-up to Election Day with n graphic novel form, in an interactive feature called America: Elect!

The story starts in 2008, when Mitt Romney dropped out of the race to endorse John McCain. A clever "vortex" transports you to 2012, when suddenly things are different -- this time, it's Romney leading the charge. It's smart, and absolutely relatable. Even the infamous Hillary Clinton texting mememakes an appearance, as do other major milestones, like the death of Osama Bin Laden, and Romney's "47%" remarks. As for how it ends, you'll have to wait until the results come out to find out.
