'ThinkB4YouSpeak' Tracks Anti-Gay Slurs on Twitter

The Ad Council and GLSEN try to improve awareness of LGBT harassment

The Ad Council teams up with GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) for a Twitter tracker that keeps track of how many times anti-gay slurs are used on the social media site. ThinkB4YouSpeak.com was the result of a GLSEN study that found that eight of 10 LGBT students reported verbal harassment at school -- and that sometimes, awareness and consciousness of how these slurs can hurt someone is the best way to stop this. The effort is similar to NoHomophobes.com, a project by the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services, University of Alberta, which does something similar.
