One of the most innovative ideas of 2011 was this interactive seat maps app from Ticketmaster, which enables you to check where your Facebook friends -- and frenemies -- are sitting before you book your seat at an event . The event ticketing company created a platform that enables buyers to log in on Facebook while buying their tickets. Then, all their friends attending the same event are shown in a list. And if they have checked in to a seat, you can stalk, er, find out where they're sitting and buy seats close to them. Or far away, if you're the loner type.
About 9,000 events are already live on the platform. The company is also hoping that the "social" nature of ticket buying will see a comeback. When you see your friends are attending the next Britney concert, you may be tempted to buy. Or de-friend them forever.
KLM subsequently developed a similar Facebook app that allowed passengers to select who their neighboring seatmates would be.
