Sopranos actress Lorraine Bracco voices the long suffering tree topper in Netflix's first spot from Deutsch LA, bringing exactly the right kind of gravel-voiced accent to what could have been a run-of-the mill festive ad. Directed by Matt Aselton, it portrays a family Christmas over the year's from the ageing tree topper's point of view -- with all kinds of craziness, including her almost being smashed and suffocated by burnt yam fumes. But the ad reveals the tree topper loves it when the whole family is together watching Netflix. It even brings a smile to her face -- although "it's kinda painted on my face". The spot will be accompanied by radio, print and digital work that reinforces that Netflix is what connects people during the holidays.
