Coke and Uber Eats will deliver your home-cooked meals and personalized soda to loved ones working on the holiday

Being chained to your desk on Christmas Eve doesn't have to mean missing out on dinner

Working on a holiday is always lonely business, but a security guard makes the best of it in a sweet Christmas spot from Coca-Cola and delivery service Uber Eats, via Parisian agency Romance.

While the rest of his family chows down on a home-cooked meal on Christmas Eve, the nightwatchman passes the seemingly interminable time by playing with office supplies, putting his feet up (on other people’s desks) and proving that that you should never leave things you care about at work. He even spreads a bit of ingenious holiday cheer with an impromptu indoor snow shower.

But while he’s been distracting himself, his family hasn’t forgotten him. They've sent along a takeaway portion of their actual holiday meal--the one they cooked themselves--plus a personalized Coke and an ugly Christmas sweater, all picked up and delivered by Uber Eats. (But who’s feeding the delivery guy? Santa gets milk and cookies, so maybe tip with sweets this year?) 

All this isn't just warm and fuzzy fiction. Coca-Cola European Partners France and Uber Eats are partnering on a real-life service to bring for free this bit of home-cooked goodness to folks like the nightwatchman--firefighters, police, doctor, nurses (maybe even Uber drivers?) pulled away from their loved ones during the holidays. 

To participate, French users register for the service between December 7 through 15 on the Uber app, and on the night before Christmas, drivers will pick up their meals and deliver them, along with a personalized bottle of Coke, to their family or friend. 

The 90-second spot is directed by Julien Guetta. It is running on the brands’ social channels in France and is being promoted in the Uber Eats app.
