Air France Passengers Can Bag an Upgrade by Playing a Mobile Game
Airline Invites People to Play 'Cloud Slicer' at Departure Gates in Asia
Editor's Pick
Just what do you have to do to get an upgrade these days? With Air France in Asia, you just have to be good at mobile games.
The airline is promoting its new business-class cabins in Asia with a specially-created game that lets passengers score an upgrade as they wait at the boarding gates. As an initial trial, agency Fred & Farid Shanghai invited passengers at the boarding gates of Singapore's Changi Airport and Kansai Airport, near Osaka in Japan, to play the game Cloud Slicer, against each other during their 15-minute wait before boarding. Top scorers were upgraded to the new business cabin, while the runners-up won seats in premium economy.
Starting Jan.19, the competition was extended to a regional level. All Air France passengers flying from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia or Japan can now compete against each other, and the best scorers of the month in each country will have the chance to be upgraded on their next flight to Paris.
