Directors Daniel Titz and Dorian Lebherz (aka Dorian & Daniel), the German film students who wowed us last year with an amazing spec ad for Johnnie Walker, have done it again, this time with a brilliant piece of dark humor for Volvo. What's more, the automaker has even endorsed the spot, by the pair, from Germany's Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, which does a great job of promoting its autonomous driving system.
The ad revolves around the idea of the "ABCs of death," with various alphabetically-named characters in a gothic-looking setting meeting their ends in a variety of ways, from being run over by a bus to hitting a gas pipe while diggiing in the garden. By the time we get to "G is for Gary," there's a twist as it turns out Gary isn't going to meet his maker quite yet, thanks to Volvo.
While we don't think the spot was necessarily made for Halloween, its macabre tinge is great for the season (and we wouldn't be surprised if the likes of Tim Burton were watching closely).
