Great Nations Eat Campaign Reminds Americans of Food Poverty on July Fourth

From the plaintive music, and the wistful look of the kids in these ads, you'd think they were a PSA about starving children in a third world country. But that's exactly the point, as the viewer realizes with a jolt that they're about kids in America.

The Great Nations Eat campaign, by BBH New York, was created for national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength and includes executions in which representatives of Germany, Slovenia and here, China, describe how children in America are living in hunger. All the spots end by pointing out that the U.S. is behind these countries in terms of food poverty.

They were created to coincide with Fourth of July, when Americans are thinking about food, and also include a spot that reminds Americans that they put a man on the moon, so feeding people "shouldn't be rocket science."
