ESight and KBS Will Help a Blind Man See His Wedding Day
A Facebook Live Event on Sunday Will Invite Others to Experience It Too
Editor's Pick
On Sunday, Andrew Airey, who suffers from a rare form of macular degeneration, a vision loss disease, will be able to relive and actually see his wedding day -- from the flowers to his wife walking down the aisle -- with the help of medical eyewear technology company eSight and ad agency partner KBS.
The experience will be aired in a Facebook Live event on eSight's brand page at 7pm EST, allowing viewers to be there while Airey sees all the wedding details, and most importantly, his wife, Kelli's, face for the first time in more than a decade. And viewers will experience this all through Airey's P.O.V. Come this August, they'll have been married for 15 years, so the event, if successful, will be an extra-special anniversary present.
And if the live Facebook experience isn't enough for viewers, come May 11 they can watch a film about Airey and his wife's story, which was directed by Academy Award-nominated Hubert Davis.
"Our goal in telling this story and recreating Andrew and Kelli's wedding is to bridge the gap between emotional storytelling and innovative technology," said KBS CCO Patrick Scissons in a statement, adding that it's about raising awareness for eSight and driving trial for the product. Esight, which was founded in 2006, is registered with the FDA and Health Canada.
