Watch David Beckham Promote His Whisky Brand Haig Club in This Guy Ritchie-Directed Ad
The Sell: Sumptuous Scottish Scenery and Soccer Star's Sex Appeal
Editor's Pick
Director Guy Ritchie is better known for his gangster movies than for filming Scottish lochs, but here he helps out his friend David Beckham with a film for the launch of Beckham's whisky brand, Haig Club (Diageo teamed up with Beckham and music/TV mogul Simon Fuller to launch the label). The spot, from Adam & Eve/DDB, shows Beckham arriving via motorbike for a rendezvous with an exclusive group of mates at a Scottish castle. This is Scotland luxe, with hunting and shooting types, private jets, Highland cattle and more -- and it might be cheesy were it not for the star quality Beckham exudes.
Beckham is adding Haig Club whisky to his already substantial marketing empire, which includes branded fragrances and underwear. It's his first alcohol brand, however, as his retirement as a professional footballer last year left him free to promote such products.
