Actors Colin Hanks ("Fargo"), J.K. Simmons ("Whiplash") and Catherine O'Hara ("Best in Show") and Oscar-winning VFX artist/director Robert Stromberg ("Maleficent") have signed on "What Lives Inside," the latest social film campaign from Pereira & O'Dell. The 2015 effort tells the story of an aimless son Taylor (Hanks) and his less-than-involved dad (Simmons), a puppeteer celebrated for his creativity. Taylor finally gets to know his father much better only after his passing, when he happens upon a mysterious world his dad had created. See a behind-the-scenes film here.
Like the previous campaigns, "What Lives Inside," will recruit viewers to take part in the creation of the film, this time, by submitting character ideas and drawings to be included into the story. Their ideas will be accepted starting January 13 through March 9. Mr. Stromberg, featured in the trailer above, will personally select the drawings and characters to appear in the film. The campaign promotes what Dell bills as "the world's thinnest tablet," the Dell Venue 8 7000 Series tablet with an Intel RealSense Snapshot Depth Camera.
"The story has become a very personal journey for me," Mr. Stromberg said in a statement. "As a working father in Hollywood, I can relate to the father's struggles in the movie, which made me very passionate about how the characters evolved. I am also extremely excited about the prospect of directing a social film and find myself daily thinking of ways to increase fan involvement in the film. This unique format will allow us to bridge the emotional and fantasy elements to create something not only unforgettable, but personal."
