Chardonnay deserves love too, so Kendall-Jackson is fighting for a white wine emoji
Winery submits 15-page proposal to get white wines digital recognition

Editor's Pick
Perhaps you may not have noticed, but there's a glaring lack of representation in the world of alcohol: white wine doesn't have its own emoji.
Until now, the digital universe has recognized only Cabs, Malbecs, Zinfandels and the like in the form of a red-filled goblet, so winery Kendall-Jackson has taken a stand. It's submitted a 15-page proposal to create an icon for whites to the Unicode Consortium, the non-profit devoted to creating a universal coding standard. And the Unicode Technical Committee is taking it seriously--it will vote on whether or not the emoji should be developed in Spring of next year.
"For years, Kendall-Jackson consumers and Chardonnay fans have been reaching out to us and asking 'where is the white wine emoji,'" said Maggie Curry, director of marketing for Kendall-Jackson Winery in a statement. "This is our chance to do something about it, not just for our fans, but for the global wine community at large."
Accompanying the proposal is a campaign launching on August 4, National Wine Day, created out of agency The Engine is Red. It includes "Wanted Posters" featuring the emoji, downloadable at whitewineemoji.net. Kendall-Jackson is encourage white wine fans to share them with the hashtag #WhiteWineEmoji.
